Manuoha, Mt

A trip to the summit of Mt Manuoha, in Te Urewera National Park, will take you through atmospheric silver beech forest. The summit itself protrudes just above the bushline, and the views from the trig range across Lake Waikaremoana, and as far as Lake Taupo and Mt Ruapehu on a clear day.

The 6 hour (one way) tramp from SH38 to Mt Manuoha summit is described at the DOC Manuoha to Waikareiti Track page. The return journey of course will be slightly quicker. It might be possible to bag Manuoha on a long day, but overnighting at Manuoha Hut (6 bunks) is probably a better bet.
