Kuripapango

Although nearly 100 metres lower than a nearby un-named 1329m top, the 1250m Kuripapango makes our list as a strenous but rewarding half day peak bagging expedition.

The DOC website describes this walk as zig zagging “through kanuka forest to the main ridge. As the main ridge is climbed, increasingly spectacular views appear; looking down to the lakes and east to Hawke?s Bay. Alpine flowers and tussock are scattered among the scree on top.” See Kuripapango Road tramping tracks for more information.
