5km
I found this track quite tough as I am still at quite a low fitness, however, I made it to the top alive!! We started off from the omaha end, crossed some damp farmland to the start of the trek, the hike was pretty much straight up and even though there had been no rain for a week, the track was very muddy and slippery in places and a ended up on my ass a couple of times!! the view at the top was good although we had to climb the trig to see it, overall, another great walk, and a nice track.

Well this trip was quite cool, we started off from the kaipara hills rd end, up a very steep driveway and onto the farm land, into the forest the hike was great, not very steep and the track winded in and out, up and over tree roots nicley, giving the sort of feeling of being in a fairytale, complete with toadstools!! We reached the summit with ease, and enjoyed the views, even better was a nice platform to climb up on so you could see past the trees, after a while at the summit we headed back the way we came as we only had one car, would reccomend this walk to everyone!!

Track dry and a little rocky in some places, awsum easy walking, after a day of pouring rain on Monday, we were lucky to have great weather, nice cool breeze, and most important....no rain!!!
We started from the wharf and headed over to McKenzie Bay which only took us 1.5 hrs, we stoped there for some morning tea before heading up to the summit where we took the steps rather than the road as they provided a great view over the gulf, it only took us a hour to reach the summit, after soaking in the views we headed down to the lava caves where we were let down by our torch, then back onto the wharf, all up the trip took us 5 hours over 11.7km, its a shame the ferry dosent arrive a little later as there were still a few things we wanted to see, but oh well, just a good excuse for another trip!
