« on: July 29, 2008, 03:55:25 PM »
Well again the excuses came out of the packet for mt Auckland as the cyclone flew over. we missed 100mm of rain and 120km+ winds up near helensville on our planned saturday trip!!!

so this month

Mt Auckland
Kohukohunui (again) from the Upper M Dam for a tough one at the end of winter

How bout you guys??

Well I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm generally allergic to winter....   don't have any major plans for another month or so, until these damn storms disappear, aside from a few walks around the pussy summits of Wellington's hills.

But after that, the next on our list are:

Mt Matthews
Mt Holdsworth
Kaweka J
Ngauruhoe
Tongariro
Tihia
Putauaki
Ngongotaha

That's probably enough for now!

yeah, although im into the no excuses mantra its hard in winter. this weekend gone I managed 2 runs, one gym workout and a 2x 200 v metre climb at our 'training track' at clevedon.

however the stormy weather has washed away parts of the track and some of the exposed bush looks like a bomb has hit it.  Then there is the odd blockage across the track....

I can only imagine how bad Mt Auckland is as it got hit by 120km/h winds and 180mm rain in 18 hours a weeks ago!

Oh well done Kohukohunui twice in the last 2 weeks and Mt Auckland so time to move on hehehe

Next up (before end of November):

Mt Pureroa and Mt Tauhara
Mt Ngongotaha
Rainbow Mountain
Mt Baldy
Mt Maunganui

Also gonna do Pinnacles again and probably Mt Te Aroha again

Could also slip in a trip to Whangarei before summer hits to do Bream Head and Mt Manaia.

Bag a fresh 8 before summer and im gonna be happy

Busy Month 8 new bags. Yay clocked in the quarter century of NI bags after only 10 months  ;D

This weekend completed: Whakapoungakau, Mt Ngongotaha, Otanewainuku, Rainbow Mountain (call me crazy but better than attending my wifes great uncles 80th party while in RTA hehe).  Will post reports soon
Previous Week: Tauhara, Pureora
Weekend Before that: Pinnacles (again)
Weekend Before that: Mt Baldy, Mt Maunganui

Will be hitting Mt Tararewa sometime over the next month or so. Work is paying  ;D

Then will look to Whangarei for Mt Manoa, and Bream Head.

Then it all slows down a lot as the fresh bags get a long way away, though summer holidays will see the central NI ones fall prey.  ::)

Good work Vino! I'd like to do Ngauruhoe again this summer, but not sure what else. I guess it's time to start the wish list!

Over summer i want to do:

Ngarauhoe (snowchick let us know when you are planning on going)
Ruapehu
Tongariro (again)
Taranaki (again). Maybe Fanthoms Peak but i dont think i can make myself climb it over Taranaki yet hehe
Umakarikari
Urchin
Kaweka J (can do the Hawkes Bay wineries at the same time)

Possibly Hikurangi but that would involve a good 4-5 day commitment.  Looks an awesome climb though

Also closer to home

Mt Te Aroha again. I like that climb and the views at the top
