We (my younger sister and I) started up Maungatautari at around 10:30am, and arrived at the summit at 12:15pm ish. It was a tough slog to start off with, but it got easier once on the mountain. There wasn't too much mud around, which was suprising. We stopped off at the summit for a while, found the geocache, and headed off to do the hook nose lookout. Ended up getting horribly lost mis-placing our location, but found our way back to the summit after giving up on it and started back down. I'm not going off any official tracks until I can afford GPS.... but it was fun anyway.
