The Pinnacles

What a great walk. I got up at 7.00am and left my house in Auckland and got at the end of the valley road at about 9.00am and started the walk. I got to the hut at about 11.00am and sat down in the kitchen for about an hour and had my lunch and let my shirt dry on the fire. I left my excess gear in the kitchen and then walked up to the pinnacles in about 30 mins. It was blowing hard but clear what a view of both Cormandel and the Hauraki plans. I walked back down to the hut and had a cup of tea and then back down to the car. The whole round trip with a good hour and a half break was 6 hours. Just fantasic the path was alittle wet but not too bad and saw many New Zealand native birds. I can see why it is in the AA 101 things to do.

Its a great walk. Good for active kids too with the swing bridges, river, stone stairs, good hut and ladders etc near the top. All plenty of entertainment!

It is wet in that valley on the climb up away from the sun
