Otanewainuku is inland SE from Te Puke. From Rotorua, turn off SH 36 towards Mangatoi, take first left (several km along the gravel road). The walk is signposted and has toilets and a shelter. No dogs allowed as it is a kiwi area. This is a loop track with a steep and a gentle option. There's a viewing tower and a trig at the top. Great views. Very well marked and easy track. OK for sneakers. Height 640m. Round trip took us 1.5 hours including stops.
