Canon Point on Puke Ariki Traverse
« on: April 23, 2013, 04:00:18 AM »
Date: 21 April 2013
Distance: 23 km end to end.
Duration: 4 hr to run the the Puke Ariki Traverse
Weather: Rainy and over casts with winds about the tops

JimmyNZ and I ran the Puke Ariki Traverse from the Dry Creek/Haywards Hill end to Korokoro Stream, taking in Belmont Trig, Boulder Hill, Canon Point and Round Knob along the way. The run was challenging but beautiful consisting of rolling farmland and great open tops. A feature was the Belmont Magazines along the way.

Beautiful hills to be had but a very tiring and long run.

Ha, so I just realised, as I went to bag Cannon Point (Upper Hutt), which I had just bagged, that the previous time I had logged this, I was referring to a different peak, Cannons Head on the Puke Ariki Traverse further to the south. So pretty much disregard the above post!

Date: 4th October 2013
Distance: Probably 5 kms all up
Duration: 2 hours
Weather: Overcast with a hint of rain

I bagged this trig, with the associated cache near the top, and carried on into the Akatarawa bush to find another cache. Nice walk on a Friday afternoon.
