Walked the TA trail from Saddleback Cafe to Sprig and Fern in Thorndon on a brilliant Wellington spring day

Started from Porirua train station and followed the Te Araroa trail.  After reaching the summit exposed to stiff southerlies - dropped down into pine forest on Tawa track.  Lost the TAT at some stage in the pine forest and spent about an hour bashing through bush and following a stream to the head of Ohariu Valley Rd.  A rewarding late lunch at the Saddleback Cafe an hour along OVR.

Bagged as part of GBI loop - pleasantly surprised to come across brand new hut close to the summit.
