Updating log. Been over here quite a number of times and highly recommend it. This walk over the tops is so underated and I think it rivals the Tongariro crossing. I've got a couple of geocaches up here too
Been up here quite a number of times, both summer and winter. Probably the most memorable trip was when this was the first of the 3 peaks ticked off on one mission. Ketetahi carpark to Turoa carpark via Tongariro, Ngauruhoe and Ruapehu in one 18 hour day
My beloved Aroha. This is the girl I spend most of my rainy weekends with and when the weather's not good enough to climb something more substantial. We must have been together several hundreds of times. I often climb this 2 or 3 times to boost my fitness when required, and even doing it 5 times one day. A nice little hill - it's a nice steady uphill slog, without the mud and undulations that Pirongia is renown for.
It's such a shame you can't officially just walk up this one. I snuck up from the other side last year after getting a boat across the lake. There's actually quite a good track up that way if you know where to go. Fantastic views from the top!
My beautiful Tara. Probably been up here at least a couple of hundred times by just about every route there is on all sides, both summer and winter. Climbed it all the way from the sea to the summit and even been up and down it three times in a day just for the pleasure of spending the time with her.
